CDO Honours Senior Citizens on International Day of Older Persons

Gonda: A felicitation ceremony was organised at the Collectorate auditorium in Gonda on Thursday to mark the International Day of Older Persons. The programme was organised by the Social Welfare Department on the instructions of District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan.

Chief Development Officer Dayanand Prasad presided over the event and honoured senior citizens from the district by presenting them certificates of appreciation and angvastram. The ceremony aimed to recognise the dignity, contribution and valuable experience of senior citizens and promote greater sensitivity towards their needs.

Addressing the gathering, Prasad described senior citizens as an invaluable asset to society, saying their knowledge, experience and life lessons serve as a guide for younger generations. He emphasised the need for families and society to adopt a respectful and supportive approach towards older persons and ensure that they can lead dignified lives.

Senior citizens also shared their experiences and expressed gratitude to the administration and Social Welfare Department for organising the event.

District Social Welfare Officer Satya Prakash Singh, officials and employees of the department, and a large number of senior citizens were present. The programme concluded in a cordial and dignified atmosphere.
